History

Gorffennwyd was first performed in the town of Pella in the state of Iowa in the United States of America on April 11, 2001 at Central College. Eilir Owen Griffiths was an exchange student to Central College from Trinity College during the Spring Term of 2001. Owen Griffiths started composing the music for Gorffennwyd during his time at Central College, and the first version of the cantata was completed in two months.
