Mewn athroniaeth, mae theori materoliaeth yn dweud mai'r unig beth sy'n bodoli ydy mater; bod popeth wedi'i greu gyda deunydd a sgìl rhyngweithiadau materol ydy pob ffenomen (gan gynnwys ymwybyddiaeth). Yn ôl llawer o athronwyr, mae 'ffisegolrwydd' yn gyfystyr â 'materoliaeth', ac maent yn defnyddio'r ddau air i ddisgrifio safbwynt sy'n cynnal syniadau ffisegol sydd ddim efallai ddim yn fater yn y ffordd draddodiadol (megis gwrth-fater neu ddisgyrchiant).
