![]() | This template is used on many pages, and changes to it will be widely noticed. Please test any changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in a user subpage, and consider discussing changes at the talk page before implementing them. |
![]() | This template should only be used on references input as free text. Access signaling has been integrated in the CS1/2 citation templates. See the relevant documentation. |
Use {{closed access}} to indicate that a publication is not available under open access. Use {{open access}} to indicate that a publication is available under open access.
Most closed-access publications are behind a paywall and require a personal or institutional subscription to access their full text. Others, including several studies, require purchase.
Still, they can often be read an abstract or summary of a closed-access publication for free, even without a subscription.
For citations input with citation templates such as {{cite journal}}, use the relevant parameters (such as |doi-access=free
) to indicate the access level for a given identifier.
Usage
After a <ref>
tag and a citation input as free text, add:
- a space
- then {{closed access}}
- then a closing
</ref>
tag.
