English: Thomas Finney of Finney, Isles & Co.. Thomas Finney, born Ireland 1837, immigrated to Queensland on the Flying Cloud. Established Finney, Isles & Co., retail and wholesale merchants in Queen Street. Finney acquired the Princess Theatre at Woolloongabba in 1899. During his ownership the premises were used as a clothing factory but by 1910 the downstairs portion of the Princess was also in use as a venue for the screening of silent motion pictures. Thomas was MLA for Toowong from Mar 1896-November 1900. (Information taken from A Biographical Register of the Queensland Parliament 1860-1929, p. 56).
