At the Royal Academy of Music, Mademoiselle Helene Bertrand (left) leads a lesson in fencing. According to the original caption, this is "an essential part of the course in Speech and Drama, [as it] gives students poise". The original caption also states that Mlle. Bertrand is the daughter of a famous fencing instructor.

The image was catalogued by the IWM as created for the Ministry of Information, which was dissolved in 1946. Consequently the image and faithful reproductions are considered Crown Copyright, now expired as the photograph was taken prior to 1 June 1957.
