Extracted from PDF version of above on the Internet Archive. Alexander Cargill's article on Izaak Walton had appeared previously in Scribner's Magazine, vol. XIV, no. 3 (September 1893), pp. 267-280. The image was reproduced on p. 274. The engraving had been previously published in England in 1815 and is today at the National Portrait Gallery in London (item NPG D2218).[1]

  • Author (Scan): Mike Cline
    Engraving: Philipp Audinet (1766–1837)
Painting: according to the National Portrait Gallery, one of the sons of John Linnell,[2] but that is hardly possible since John Linnell lived 1792 – 1882. There's just not enough time between 1792 and 1815 for this to be true. More likely Peter Lely (1618–1680).[3]
  • Date (Scan): March 2008
