Arolwg Archaeolegol India yw'r asiantaeth swyddogol Adran Ddiwylliant llywodraeth India sy'n gyfrifol am astudiaethau archaeolegol yn y wlad ac sy'n gofalu am ei henebion diwylliannol.
Mae'n olynydd i'r Gymdeithas Asiaidd a sefydlwyd gan yr ieithydd Syr William Jones ar 15 Ionawr, 1784.
Sefydlwyd yr ASI yn ei ffurf bresennol yn 1861 dan weinyddiaeth Syr Alexander Cunningham. Roedd ei thiriogaeth yn cynnwys Pacistan ac Affganistan. Syr Mortimer Wheeler a benodwyd i'w rhedeg yn 1944, o bencadlys yn Simla, brynfa yn yr Himalaya. Ar ôl annibyniaeth fe'i cymerwyd drosodd gan y llywodraeth newydd.
Heddiw mae 3,636 o henebion yn ei gofal ledled y wlad.
