Sefydlwyd y South Wales Record Society (Cymdeithas Gofnodion De Cymru) yn 1982 fel olynydd i "South Wales and Monmouthshire Records Society" (Cymdeithas Gofnodion De Cymru a Sir Fynwy) gyda'r bwriad o gyhoeddi ffynonellau hanesyddol pwysig sy’n ymwneud â De Cymru.[1]
