Galwedigaeth Cantores gospel

Roedd Mahalia Jackson (play /məˈhljə/ mə-HAYL-yə; 26 Hydref, 1911[1]27 Ionawr, 1972) yn gantores gospel Americanaidd gyda llais pwerus contralto.[2] Roedd rhai yn ei galw hi "Y Frenhines Gospel".[1][3][4] Roedd hi'n un o'r cantorion gospel mwyaf dylanwadol, a phoblogaidd fel cantores ac ymgyrchwr hawliau sifil.

"Rwyf i'n canu cerddoriaeth Duw achos mae'n wneud i deimlo'n rhydd", meddai Jackson am ei hoff genre, "Mae'n rhoi gobaith i mi. Yn y felan, pan wyt ti'n gorffen, rwyt ti dal yn teimlo'r blues."[5]
