Disgrifiad
English: A recording of the Welsh national anthem, "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" (composed in January 1856 by James James, words by his father Evan James), sung by Madge Breese for the Gramophone Company in London. It is the first known recording in the Welsh language.[1]

The words of the first verse and chorus (all that is sung on this recording) are:

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.
(Chorus:)
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.
